In July, Quantitative Science Studies (MIT Press) published “The development of a research intelligence tool for rare disease research in the Netherlands (R. Iping et al, 2024).” The article is OA available hier

This article describes the process of the development of Rare Disease Monitor. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first tool that can surface and organize scientific output on rare diseases using established annotation and natural language processing mechanisms. Quoting the authors: “the tool is a unique visualization that allows users to benefit with a few clicks from getting the information they require for their needs and offers novel scientific indicators to characterize (relatively) rare disease research activity” .

The tool is available here: Rare Diseases Monitor – Elsevier Partnership contributing to Dutch Open Science (epdos.nl).  This page has a link to the live dashboard
